GEO: Russia
Niche: betting / gambling
Timeline: 1.5 months
Site type: monobrand, 1 language version
For the project launch, we selected an auction domain with a minimal number of indexed keywords. This allowed us to reduce initial costs and avoid a heavy legacy footprint that could negatively impact rankings.
We did not let the domain “age” or restore old content. Immediately after purchase, we deployed a new structure: homepage + essential service pages. Only one language version was used, optimized for the primary target region.
The site was launched as a monobrand, which in the gambling niche helps quickly align relevance for specific queries without spreading weight across multiple pages.
Within 2–3 days after indexing, the site started ranking for old keyword phrases from the previous owner. Some of them unexpectedly entered the TOP 10, confirming that part of the previous semantic relevance was still retained.
At this stage, it was crucial not to disrupt the current momentum or rush into link building. Instead of aggressive black-hat link injections, we took a different approach: we retrieved an old EMD domain from the archive. It hadn’t shown strong performance before, but it had relevant topical history. We set up a 301 redirect from all its pages to the homepage of the new project.
The redirects were activated immediately, without gradual rollout or testing. Within a few days, noticeable changes began in Google:
We made no additional changes to content and did not touch the link profile. We simply left the site untouched for a week to allow Google to complete signal reassessment.

Just 1.5 months after launch:

📌 It’s important to work not only with backlinks but also with the behavioral inertia of old domains. Sometimes a well-executed 301 redirect and minimal вмешательство give better results than aggressive SEO.
